Hickory skiing on Engstligenalp

Lovers of nostalgia gather on Saturday 30 March for the traditional hickory ski meetings on Engstligenalp. The event promises many surprises for spectators and participants.

Hickory wood was used to make the forerunners to modern skis, hence the name of this nostalgic event. Don't miss watching participants weaving across the pistes on their old wooden skis or traditional sledges, dressed in nostalgic costumes. With afternoon show event! If you turn up on wooden skis, plus-four trousers or a skirt and a pointed hat, you travel on the lift for free.

This event promises spectators and participants alike a journey back in time to the "good old days".


• 10.00 am – 11.00 am                      Welcome drink in the Bockbar
• 12.00 noon                                      Glühwein at the Restaurant Steghorn
• 2.30 pm - 3.30 pm                          Hickory ski races at Kinderland
• 4 pm                                                Award ceremony in the Bockbar

Turn up with wooden skis and wearing plus-fours or a vintage skirt to receive your ski day pass and a welcome drink all for free. Participants should register at the Engstligenalp base station ticket office. Spectators are very welcome!
