Chrigel Maurer: How the defending champion trains

When his father let him take his first trial flight, Chrigel Maurer was just nine - old enough to lay the foundation for one of the most successful paragliding careers in the world. In the ensuing decades, the Adelbodner threw everything he had into making a name for himself as an international competitor. And his efforts were duly crowned with success. Among many awards, Chrigel Maurer can count four Red Bull X-Alps wins, three world championships and five Swiss champion titles. But even that hasn't satisfied the Eagle of Adelboden’s hunger for victory. In 2017, he will be aiming for his fifth X-Alps victory. This legendary paragliding competition from Salzburg along the Alpine arc to Monaco is one of the toughest in the world and takes several days. Meticulous preparation is the key to success, and it goes without saying that the eyes of his fans, the local community, and his fellow competitors will all be on the defending champion. Adelboden Tourism will be here to keep you up to date with regular reports about his pre-competition training.
