Digital Detox Camp for nature lovers
 
Few places are so ideally suited for switching off and slowing down as the Bernese Oberland. For this reason, Adelboden Tourism has launched a Digital Detox Camp project which promises to be from laptops, social media and mobile phone reception. 1st August in the Valley
 
The origin of the Swiss Confederation in 1291 lies in the Alps - so obviously Swiss National Day in the Engstlige Valley gets very special treatment throughout the day. From 9.30am onwards, you can enjoy brunch to the sound of traditional folk music at Tellenburg in Frutigen. In the afternoon, concerts and the festivities relocate to Adelboden's Märitplatz (market place). At 8.15 pm in Adelboden, formal celebrations include an official address, carnival parade and giant firework display. » more
 
 
 
 
     
 
Bike trails of the extra class
 
Feel the rush of the wind through spruce forests and between rocky formations. Around Adelboden and Frutigen, mountain bikers can find a dense network of cycle paths, ranging from a comfortable family tour to a demanding single trail. Five local bike hire shops ensure that Alpine areas and even the World Cup course at Chuenisbärgli can be explored on two wheels. Ski World Cup Music Festival
 
Garmisch Partenkirchen, Zagreb, Schladming, Kranjska Gora, Åre and Adelboden: These international and well-known names combine not only a love of professional skiing but also of authentic folk music. And this is what the participants will be sharing with spectators on 5 August. Trophies for Adelboden experts
 
Distinctive rock formations, sculptures and animals meet hikers as they make their way on foot around Adelboden. To engage guests even more and reward the observant and inquisitive for their efforts, there are now some exciting prizes to be won as well. Two new brochures (in German) produced by Adelboden Tourism help you find your way. Record-breaking suspension bridge
 
When we think of suspension bridges, the famous Golden Gate Bridge in California may spring to mind. But one of the very longest in Europe for adventurous walkers is right on our doorstep at Hostalde between Frutigen and Adelboden. Car, bus or a footpath along the river bank bring you to this feat of engineering which spans the protected flood plains below, but you'll need a head for heights!
